Bud, Not Buddy

Introduce a story set during The Great Depression to students. Ten-year-old Bud, a motherless boy living in Flint, Michigan, escapes a bad foster home. He is in search of the man he belives to be his father. This story smoothly fits into the curriculum during Black History Month. Students may feel many emotions throughout this story; and journaling these feelings will help them to practice thier writing skills.
